Lincoln’s Live Music Scene with Jo Richardson

Lincoln’s Live Music Scene with Jo Richardson

Young local band The Faith Estate play The Drill on Saturday, March 7 to launch its UK tour, which includes dates in London, Manchester, Leicester and Leeds.

It is fronted by Rhys Turner, a hugely talented singer-songwriter, who has been an established part of the Lincoln music scene for several years.

The band is now working in partnership with an independent London-based record label, which is the most exciting development in its music career to date. Rhys said: “This is going to push the band forward on to the next level.”

The Faith Estate will be the youngest original band to headline The Drill, which has been central to the Lincoln entertainment business since it was built in 1890.

It has hosted some big names from the rock and punk era, such as The Stranglers, Stiff Little Fingers and Iron Maiden. However, the date that makes music history is New Year’s Eve 1963, when the Rolling Stones took to the stage, the day before their first appearance on Top of the Pops.

There are few photos to be found of this legendary event, but it makes playing in the same venue feel significant.

The Faith Estate’s latest release on Spotify, the Live from the Pipelands EP, is a reflection of its raw sound and creative edge, which echoes the band’s influences such as The Fall, The Stooges and The Velvet Underground.

The five-piece has worked hard to showcase current material, having been recently featured on the BBC Introducing stage at The Metronome in Nottingham.

The feedback from audiences has been phenomenal.

“You’re like The Doors, but better,” was one notable quote from the crowd.

The members state that the gig at The Drill will be the final chance to see them play live in Lincoln, so fans can expect an unforgettable, energetic performance.
